About us

The Eco Travel Network offers visitors to the Brecon Beacons National Park the chance to explore our beautiful countryside in funky, lightweight electric vehicles – powered only by Welsh sun, rain and wind.

Thanks to a grant from the Sustainable Development Fund, together with sponsorship from Renault UK and Callow Marsh Renault Dealership in Hereford, the Eco Travel Network was launched in July 2012 with 6 brand new Renault Twizys. These exciting “urban chic” quadricycles are happily discovering “rural chic”in the rolling hills and country lanes of Wales!

Members of the Eco Travel Network (ETN) are mostly local accomodation providers - hotels, B&B, self-catering cottages, bunkhouses and caravan and camping sites. The ETN offers two types of membership:-

1. Full members - these members pay a full up-front membership fee and and host a Twizy full-time bearing their own livery.  They rent it out to their visiting guests on a daily or weekly basis and use it for themselves and their staff inbetween. The eye-catching nature of the Twizy makes it an ideal promotional tool for businesses.

2. Affiliate members - these members pay an initial joining fee and can then lease an ETN Twizy for a shorter period (a week or month) to rent to their visiting guests.

The plan is to grow the member network across the National Park and add a variety of lightweight electric vehicles.

We have around 40 informal 13amp charge points for Twizys in the National Park based around pubs, cafes and visitor attractions. Most of these do not offer full charge points for all electric vehicles. In partnership with Zero Carbon World and Welsh Road Trips, this network is expanding to include a number of full charge points for visiting electric vehicles. Check the ZapMap link to find those.
